The Revised Standard Version translates Psalm
81:1 as, “Sing aloud to God our strength; shout for joy to the God of Jacob!” Young’s
Literal Translation renders Psalm 81:1, “Cry aloud to God our strength, shout
to the God of Jacob,” That sounds to me like a biblical call for emotional
passionate musicing.
