Prayer
Makes a Difference
Acts 12:5 states, “Peter
therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church
of God for him."
This Bible lesson recounts Peter’s
imprisonment. His marvelous release and how astonished the church was that God
had answered their prayer. We may chuckle when we read about a church that
prayed and were shocked when Peter showed up at the gate, but we too often
react much like them when God answers our prayers.
I remember when the Music division staff
of the college where I worked prayed for a long, long time for a much needed
seven foot grand piano that was needed for a piano teacher’s studio. The staff prayed and I tried to raise money
to purchase it, but nothing happened.
Then, much to our surprise, a local television station called the
college and asked if the college would like to have a seven foot Baldwin that
they had recently rebuilt. We were all
shocked as we stood around this beautiful instrument that had just been given
to the college. We were about to believe
that God was not going to supply our need when we were on the brink of a
miracle.
