Thought for the Day

Thought for the Day
Christian scholars of music recorded in the Bible need to be aware of the fact that Jewish music historians have continuously concerned themselves with serious study of  musicing in ancient Israel.  If anyone has knowledge concerning musicing during the time that the Old Testament was written, it is most probably Jewish historians.  Also there was a span of nearly 100 years between Sir John Stainer’s Music in the Bible (1914) and my book Music of the Bible in Christian perspective (1995).  This fact attests to the sad reality that protestant writers have not concerned themselves much with serious study of music in the Bible in the past century.
