This
is a time of year when it is popular to go to church. People go to church during the Easter season
that do not attend again until the Christmas season. Rather than treat these people with contempt,
musicians should consider these special times as wonderful opportunities to
minister to some people who do not attend worship services very often.
I
suggest that your musicing should be filled with the Gospel of Jesus
Christ. Keep the message simple and to
the point. You might think of the
possibility that this might be the last opportunity that they might have to be presented with
the claims of the gospel. It might not
be the time to sing about sheep and mansions and the ethereal breezes that blow
from the glory world.
Christ suffered and died for sinful men and
women who are in need of His forgiveness and the freedom that Christ’s
forgiveness brings to those who are bound with addictions. They need to hear what God’s Word promises to
those who allow Him to change their lives and to free them from the guilt and
stain of sin. Consider saturating your
musicing with Scriptures that mention the peace and cleanness that comes to
those who allow Christ to forgive their sins i.e. Romans 5:1”Therefore being
justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ…” Consider telling thee folk that (1John 1:7) “…the
blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” Also tell them 1John
1:9 promises that” If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive
us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
