Is Music the Power of God?—part 1

Is Music the Power of God?—part 1

1Corinthians 1:17--18 states, “For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.  For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”  What is God’s wisdom in the Scripture lesson above?  What is the main thing?  It certainly isn’t MUSIC.  The main thing is the preaching of “Christ crucified”.  The wisdom of the world considers it foolishness and a stumbling-block, but God still considers it the main thing since He calls it the “power of God”.
How did music become the main thing in worship today?  Churches that have made music the main thing are not following the wisdom or philosophy that the Holy Spirit teaches.  Can contemporary worship be truly Christian worship and give music more time and more importance than preaching Christ crucified?
Although music is mentioned over 600 times in the Bible, the Word never even hints to us that it pleased God through the wisdom or foolishness of music to save them that believe.  No, on the authority of God’s Word it pleases Him to save through preaching of the cross and Christ crucified.
