Acknowledging that
God Owns What He Created-Part 3
Colossians 1:17 states, “And he is before all things, and by
him all things consist. And he is the
head of the body of the church: who is the beginning, the first born from the
dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.”
The last two
days have laid a foundation for the Christian to music within the frame work of
Colossians 1:17. So, today we will learn
that in all our musicing Christ must have the preeminence. As the farmers would say back in Kansas, “you
have to share the pig”. However, I contend
that we, as “sold out to Christ” musicians, must give Christ the entire pig. It is impossible for Christ to have the preeminence
in your musicing unless he owns all of your music and all of your musicing unto
God. Unless you have submitted all your
musicing unto the lordship of Jesus Christ, God does not completely own music
in your life and ministry.
Remember that the religious humanist believes that his or her musicing
is for the performer’s seekers aggrandizement and for the seekers
enjoyment. To the religious humanist
church musician, church music is about the likes and dislikes of the musician
and the seeker. To this musicians
thinking, Christ will be happy with whatever the seeker and the seeker’s
friendly servant (the church musician)
