Acknowledging that
God Owns What He Created Part 2
Colossians 1:16 states, “For by him were all things created,
that are in the heaven, and in the earth, visible and invisible…”
Yesterday we
learned that the “all’ of God’s creation includes music. Today we learn that God’s creation includes
the visible (horatos 3707) and the invisible (aoratos 517). The horatos, which is a hapax legamenon, is
the visible part that we can see on the musical score. The aoratos is the part of a musical
composition that we cannot see when we look at the musical score.
The invisible
part of music is SOUND. As Christian musicians, we are responsible to God
for the visible part of music and the invisible part of music. In other words, we are responsible to God not
only for the words and notes we place on
the musical score but also the vocal and instrumental sounds that we produce
when we music unto our heavenly Father.
Therefore, the
sounds that you produce and the sounds that the musicians produce who work
under your musical direction, all come under the direct Lordship of Jesus
Christ. When you face Him “{whose eyes
are as a flame of fire” in the Day of Judgment, you will give an account for
the SOUNDS that you and your vocal, choral and instrumental groups musiced unto
God.
