I am satisfied with Jesus
by Baylus B. McKinney
1 I am satisfied with Jesus,
He has done so much for me:
He has suffered to redeem me,
He has died to set me free.
Chorus:
I am satisfied, I am satisfied,
I am satisfied with Jesus,
But the question comes to me,
As I think of Calvary,
Is my Master satisfied with me?
2 He is with me in my trials,
Best of friends of all is He;
I can always count on Jesus,
Can He always count on me?
Chorus
3 I can hear the voice of Jesus,
Calling out so pleadingly,
"Go and win the lost and straying";
Is He satisfied with me?
Chorus
4 When my work on earth is ended,
And I cross the mystic sea,
Oh, that I could hear Him saying,
"I am satisfied with thee."
Chorus
Chorus
I
have sung this gospel song for most of my life since I found Jesus as my
personal savior. I am convicted every
time that I sing this song because the longer I live the more I learn about
what Christ has done for me. Years ago I
heard my friend Dr. Daniel Hinthorn give an explanation of woe Jesus suffered
from the beating, crown of thorns and the awful way that He suffered and died
on the cross for my sins. So, I have
that clear mental image of Christ’s suffering and death every time I sing, “He
has suffered to redeem me, He has died to set me free.”
I
am satisfied with Jesus, “But the question comes to me, As I think of Calvary, Is my Master satisfied with me?” I am convinced that Jesus’ death on Calvary
paid the debt for my sins and I am convinced that He forgave me of all my awful
sins and has removed them as far as the east is from the west. That knowledge makes me satisfied with what
He has done (and will do) but sometimes I have wondered as to whether the meager
service that I have given Him is in any way satisfying to Him. Then I remember the scripture, in Ephesians
2:8-9, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it
is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
This song also brings me much comfort and assurance when it says, “He is with me in my trials, Best of friends of all is He”. Since He is truly my Savior and my best friend I want to remember ta portion of the third verse which states, “I can hear the voice of Jesus, Calling out so pleadingly, ’Go and win the lost and straying’.” One of these days I will experience the words of the fourth verse, “When my work on earth is ended, and I cross the mystic sea, oh, that I could hear Him saying, ‘I am satisfied with thee’.”

Prayer
for the Day
My dearest friend and Savior Jesus
Christ I am approaching the heavenly Father’s great throne through Your worthy
and wonderful name. I know that You alone will be worthy to open the Book of
Life, on that great and awful day, when we stand before You in the presence of
the Father. I am asking You to help me
to be faithful to You as long as I am on this earth. Please help me to always be your faithful
musical servant as long as you lend me breath and give me the strength to serve
You and others. This I am praying in
Your loving and wonderful name. Amen.
